"A Global Report on Trafficking in Persons launched today by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) provides new information on a crime that shames us all."

Based on data gathered from 155 countries, it offers the first global assessment of the scope of human trafficking and what is being done to fight it. It includes: an overview of trafficking patterns; legal steps taken in response; and country-specific information on reported cases of trafficking in persons, victims, and prosecutions.
At the launch of the Report in New York, the Executive Director of UNODC, Antonio Maria Costa said that "many governments are still in denial. There is even neglect when it comes to either reporting on, or prosecuting cases of human trafficking". He pointed to the fact that while the number of convictions for human trafficking is increasing, two out of every five countries covered by the UNODC Report had not recorded a single conviction.
According to the Report, the most common form of human trafficking (79%) is sexual exploitation. The victims of sexual exploitation are predominantly women and girls. Surprisingly, in 30% of the countries which provided information on the gender of traffickers, women make up the largest proportion of traffickers. In some parts of the world, women trafficking women is the norm.
The second most common form of human trafficking is forced labor (18%), although this may be a misrepresentation because forced labor is less frequently detected and reported than trafficking for sexual exploitation."

Genuine, Christ-following Christians have been enslaved, persecuted, tortured, and killed by pseudo-Christians throughout history. Beware the tendency of anti-Christians to use pseudo-Christian examples to misrepresent "Christianity":

* GSI Caution: This book is excellent, however, the authors fail to present the massive quantity and quality of positive work done by Christ-centered churches and organizations for the past 2,000 years. The authors rightly highlight how predatory wolves in sheep's clothing, pretending to represent Christianity, have infiltrated church groups to abuse the weak and vulnerable, and the sad fact that many others in the "church" have turned a blind eye and deaf ear to abuses. Wrongly, the authors have neglected to present the facts regarding the billions of Christian dollars and thousands of Christian lives invested over the centuries to free the oppressed and enslaved. From William Wilberforce, to those who risked their lives for victims of the Nazis death camps, to the millions of Christ followers today who are directly involved in the work of abolition, no group on earth has done more to help the weak and vulnerable. Why? It's because of gratitude for what the Forgiver did for us through Christ on the Cross.

Why do I recommend this book? ** I don't agree with every detail of D'Souza's ideas or conclusions, especially his failure to emphasize the understandable anger provoked by colonial imperialistic abuses of power. Also, I do not agree that the sole solution is democratic, free market capitalism. Any human government whether socialism or capitalism, without truly humble dependence upon our Creator - the only Good Shepherd - will eventually use and abuse those under it (see below). Yet the central premise of the book is one of the best explanations for the current American regime.
Dinesh D'Souza is an internationally respected scholar, who has taught and presented at major universities around world. His new book (written in a very readable style), THE ROOTS OF OBAMA'S RAGE, is possibly the best yet written to reveal the real Obama. After careful and exhaustive research, D'Souza (an Indian born in poverty in Mumbai) personally shows why angry anti-colonialism is the root motivating Obama, his mother, and his father. Few have read President Obama's earlier book, DREAMS "FROM" MY FATHER. Our president's dream for our country and the whole world is the dream he received "FROM" his father, a bitterly radical, socialistic leader in the African movement against colonial abuse.
On the one hand, D'Souza shows that Obama's belief (that weakening America and the other Western nations so that global socialism can right our national "sins") is the wrong way to fix past and current problems. D'Souza warns that we should be "very, very, concerned" about the future for our children and grandchildren.
On the other hand, sadly, Dr. D'Souza shows how the history of colonial abuses (often in the name of "Christianity") explain why Obama's pastor, the Rev. Wright, could so passionately scream, "G-D American . . . . America's chickens have come home to roost". It also makes sense why Obama sat for 20 years listening respectfully to Rev. Wright. It makes logical and emotional sense that Obama and many others around the world are enraged against the West and a phony form of "christianity".
Sadly, Obama's worldview is a distorted, one-sided perceptual filter developed in the heart of a little boy struggling to make sense of a very confused and hurtful upbringing. Obama's worldview is missing the whole picture that can only be seen from a fully biblical perspective. So few have "seen" true Christianity "lived" out through the actions of "Christian" nations like Britain and the United States, or the agendas of "Christian" transnational corporations. Too often both have used and abused the countries over which their power has forced control.
I recommend Dr. D'Souza's book and pray that Christ-honoring voices will be raised up to awaken all of us to:
1. Grieve over our forefathers' past and present sins against weaker nations and vulnerable people.
2. Reject the false promise of a vain hope in change through socialistic slavery of the masses ruled by a "new" elite.
3. Embrace the true promise of proven freedom through representative democracy and free market independence.
4. Remember the fact that no system of governance can continue in "goodness" over its people unless it and the society under it are saturated with the salt and light of the Good Shepherd's character living through born anew believers (leaders and citizens).
5. Never forget that ONLY our Creator is pure in His goodness, therefore our only hope is humble dependence upon Him and not on another charismatic politician.
6. Pray and work to protect, rescue, and restore those who are oppressed by predatory powerplayers, while proclaiming the full truth of the GOOD SHEPHERD and His Way.

ISLAM and KORAN vs COMPASSIONATE MUSLIM PEOPLE . . . .
** Peaceful Muslims . . .I have many peaceful friends who have grown up as Muslims and continue to practice Islam. Sadly my friends are often afraid to speak out about other "Muslims" who are filled with hate and seeking to force the world to "submit" to Islam under threat of violence and death. I understand why my friends fear for their children and remain silent in the face of terrorism. I realize that only a few "Muslims" commit acts of violence in the name of Allah. Yet my greatest concern is that a huge percentage of Muslims around the world support violent acts. Remember, thousands of Muslims danced in their streets aroung the world, publicly celebrating the suffering of 3,000 innocent people (NON-soldiers, who were men, women, and little children) who died in New York on 911? Yes, I understand that in every "war" bombs dropped from planes often kill civilians, but most terrorists bombings intentionally target civilian men, women, and children. What about "Christian" terrorists? Very rarely does anyone commit an act of violent terror in the name of Christianity. Those few who do are always deranged loners or members of a tiny fringe group of extremists. Plus, when rare cases of "false-Christian" violence do occur, immediately the vast majority of true Christians strongly speak out publicly condemning such acts as not Christian. Why do so many Muslims dance in their streets when a terrorist succeeds with a violent act of terror in the name of Islam? One reason is that they believe America and Western Civilization abused their ancestors through colonial domination, and in many ways they are right. In fact, some predatory Western corporations and governments continue to abuse people groups and nations through subtle forms of neo-colonialism. However, such grievous abuses do not justify acts of terror against innocent men, women, and children. Jesus and truly biblical Christianity teach God's special love that is willing to die FOR our enemies, to save them from the disease and eternal death of sin. God entered His space/time universe as prophecied for thousands of years as Jesus the Messiah and allowed His enemies to kill him on a cross. It was not just an example of perfect love, it was a perfect payment for the death (separation from God) that we all deserve - as rebels - His enemies (Romans 5).
